Akron Summit Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Program begins

Taxes Prepared at No Cost
The Akron Summit Earned Income Tax Program is offering tax preparation and filing at no cost to you to eligible residents beginning January 22, 2022.
Clients may schedule a “Drop Off” appointment by calling 1-866-861-6401 or by visiting https://app.capappointments.com/eitc
Fortunately, eligible working families here in Summit County are able to access free tax preparation assistance by IRS –certified volunteers at three designated Community Action Akron Summit locations. The trained and IRS-certified volunteers will determine EITC eligibility, prepare returns and ensure taxpayers receive the full amount for which they qualify.
Tax Credit Eligibility Guidelines for Tax Year 2021:

Families with three or more qualifying children who earned less than $51,464 in 2021 (or less than $57,414 for married filing jointly) are eligible for a credit of up to $6,728.

Families with two qualifying children who earned less than $47,915 in 2021 (or less than $53,865 for married filing jointly) are eligible for a credit of up to $5,980.

Families with one qualifying child who earned less than $42,158 in 2021 (or less than $48,108 for married filing jointly) are eligible for a credit of up to $3,618.

Individuals who do not have a qualifying child, with earned income of less than $21,430 in 2021 (or less than $27,380 for married filing jointly) are eligible for a credit up to $1,502.

Community Action Akron Summit is a private non-profit corporation operating various programs that assist Summit County residents to become self-sufficient. These programs include Head Start, Early Head Start, The Foster Grandparent Program, Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), Akron Summit Pathways HUB, Neighborhood Development and Akron Summit Earned Income Tax Program.
